Richard Reynolds is Course Leader for the MA in Applied Imagination at Central Saint Martins, UK. He has published, broadcast and podcasted widely on superheroes, comics and other aspects of popular culture. His best-known work is Superheroes: A Modern Mythology (1992), and he is the co-author of Superheroes and Excess (2021). His work has appeared in (among other places) The Superhero Reader (2013), What is a Superhero? (2013), Representing Acts of Violence in Comics (2019), Toxic Masculinity: Mapping the Monstrous in Our Heroes (2020), and the award-winning Supersex: Sexuality, Fantasy, and the Superhero (2020). A frequent guest speaker on radio and television, was the organizer of Superheroes and Costume, a conference held at the London College of Fashion in 2025 which gained extensive media coverage.
