Saskia McCracken

Biography

Saskia McCracken is an award-winning nature writer and editor. Her environmental writing won the Walter and Anne Wyatt Memorial Prize (2016), and she was shortlisted for the Future Places Environmental Essay Prize (2021) and longlisted for the Nature Chronicles Prize (2022). Saskia completed her PhD on Virginia Woolf’s Darwinian Animal Tropes at the University of Glasgow where she now teaches creative writing short courses. Saskia has been awarded a Creative Scotland grant to complete her debut nature narrative, Awful Creatures, which includes ongoing mentorship from award-winning journalist and nature writer Cal Flyn, author of the bestselling Islands of Abandomment.
