Jelica Novakovic-Lopušina is the founder of Dutch studies in Yugoslavia and Serbia. For almost 20 years she was head of the Department of Dutch Studies at the University of Belgrade and Professor of Dutch Philology. Her research mainly concerns Balkan imagology in Dutch and Flemish literature as well as the reception of Dutch and Flemish literature in Serbian/Croatian translation. She herself is an awarded translator.
