New Critical Humanities

Interested in publishing in this series? Please contact the series editors - Birgit M. Kaiser (b.m.kaiser@uu.nl), Timothy O'Leary (t.oleary@unsw.edu.au), and Kathrin Thiele (k.thiele@uu.nl) to discuss your idea! We particularly encourage submissions from emerging scholars and are accepting proposals for both authored works and edited volumes.

In this time of ongoing planetary crises, from climate collapse to transnational inequalities, from genocidal violence and wars to persistent intersectional injustices, from political extremism to technological revolutions, the value of the critical humanities and their intervention into public discourse is once again of central concern. This series publishes books that demonstrate an understanding of critique in action, while also questioning and redefining its inherited methodologies and perspectives.

The books in this series contribute to a re-imagination of critique; its powers, its strengths, and its transformative potential. Grounded in the core disciplines in the humanities and social sciences (including philosophy and social theory, languages and literature, feminist and postcolonial studies, digital cultures), New Critical Humanities challenges and sharpens the question of critique itself, thus situating the critical humanities at the center of envisioned collective responses to the fundamental demands of the twenty-first century.

The series is linked to the international research network Terra Critica: Interdisciplinary Network for the Critical Humanities, which the editors Birgit M. Kaiser and Kathrin Thiele founded and coordinate since 2012 (terracritica.net), and of which Timothy O’Leary is a member.
