Description
Writing Conceptual Histories introduces conceptual history as a research attitude and as a lens through which we can study the past and present. In doing so, this book will provide students and researchers with an overview of, and easy access to, central concepts of conceptual history and its practical applications.
Pasi Ihalainen and Jani Marjanen lead a group of world-renowned scholars to focus on the development and central concepts of conceptual histories, including political representation, ideologies, intellectual and conceptual history of human rights and synchronous contemporary conceptual history. Writing Conceptual Histories adopts an innovative case study approach which will guide students through the complexities of the field and explain the major difference between discourse analysis and critical discourse analysis. Students will be able to consolidate their knowledge with recommended reading sections listed at the end of each chapter.
The volume boasts a variety of pedagogical features, including:
- A glossary of key terms and concepts
- A unique case study approach
- Recommended readings at the end of each chapter
This book will show students how conceptual history can be applied to comparative and transnational histories of democracy and ideologies.
