This story was a hit with my children. We've loved the Easter and Christmas versions of this story and We're Going on a Treasure Hunt is just as much fun! Hughes' artwork is bright, adorable and engaging, and her bunnies made lovely pirates. When we finished reading, my children immediately asked if we could go on a treasure hunt of our own, so this is a story which creates lots of opportunities for imaginative play

With Martha's rhythmic, rhyming, onomatopoeic, repeat pattern narrative, this is an ideal read-aloud to enjoy with pre-schoolers who will doubtlessly relish joining in [...] Laura Hughes' lively scenes of the search provide plenty of gentle visual humour and opportunities to spot the wealth of flora and fauna on every spread

We're going on a Treasure Hunt feels like a step up from the other books, as you count the gold coins you find throughout the book - great for early numeracy skills and number recognition. The text is still simple and easy to follow. The illustrations from Laura Hughes are charming and engaging, they're detailed and exciting to look at.
